A better box, or some padding, would have prevented that, and I could give this one as a gift. The only things that kept this light from having a 5-star rating were the tiny instructions on the box instead of even a slip of paper with more easily-read directions, and bad packaging that left it loose in the envelope, allowing it to get scratched easily in shipping. Only time will tell as to whether it lives up to that impression. I don't know that I'll ever need the SOS feature, but as a ham radio operator, I can't fault having it! The other features, though, are perfect, just what I was looking for, and the construction appears solid and durable. It has a number of good features you would see in a flashlight 4X the price. It is a piece of quality workmanship for a good price. If I find a problem, I will come back and add more information. I haven't had it long enough to test battery life, but with an LED, it should be reasonable.
